NYC DEPARTMENT OF SANITATION BUREAU OF WASTE PREVENTION, REUSE AND RECYCLING

NYC MEDP is solely funded by the New York City Department of Sanitation, Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling (BWPRR). BWPRR plans, implements, and evaluates the Department's recycling, composting, and waste prevention programs.

BWPRR'S programs cover:
- recycling and waste prevention
- composting
- reuse
- producer take-back
- household special waste

In addition to funding NYC MEDP and it’s programs, the NYC Department of Sanitation supports reuse through the NYC Stuff Exchange (nyc.gov/stuffexchange) website and app as well as through Materials for the Arts (mfta.org).
