About Us
Our Mission
NYC Materials Exchange Development Program (NYC MEDP) strengthens New York’s materials exchange and reuse sector by researching, connecting, supporting and promoting New York's reuse organizations. NYC MEDP achieves its goals by serving as a networking conduit and providing a platform for collaborative projects, online materials exchanges, sector promotion, capacity building training and research. These activities are intended to expand the capacity of reuse sector members and increase public awareness and access to the innovative waste prevention service of materials reuse.
Program History & Overview
Established in 2004, by the NYC Department of Sanitation’s Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling (BWPRR) and housed at the City College of New York's Grove School of Engineering (CCNY), NYC Materials Exchange Development Program (NYC MEDP) provides a broad range of support services to NYC’s reuse sector.
NYC MEDP works to strengthen materials exchange and reuse in NYC by supporting New York City’s reuse organizations through networking, research, training, and program development.
In addition to these services, NYC MEDP also operates its own FREE online materials exchange and referral service for businesses and nonprofits, NYC WasteMatch.
NYC MEDP is a MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION, open and FREE to entities dealing with second-hand goods and materials reuse in New York City. For more information on membership, please see our member’s area.
