Project Description

Organized by NYC Materials Exchange Development Program (NYC MEDP), the NYC Reuse Sector Conference will focus on the challenges shared by local reuse organizations and explore strategies to improve operations and promote materials reuse in New York City. Attendees will discuss best practices, weigh in on sector strategies, and have a chance to network with others in this growing sector.

Conference Theme

The Fifth Annual NYC Reuse Sector Conference, Exploring the Competitive Edge of Reuse, will examine the methodologies and best practices for measuring and promoting the environmental benefits, green jobs and social impact of reuse. In addition, the conference will focus on furthering public awareness of the NYC Reuse Sector by promoting its competitive edge in a new economy.

Attendee Details

This event is held each year for members of NYC MEDP. Members are a community of organizations working together to facilitate the redistribution of second-hand materials within NYC. These organizations range from thrift stores to green building and deconstruction companies; as well as, advocacy groups; charitable book and clothing drives; social service organizations; ecology centers; and creative arts programs. While member organizations may vary widely in their overall missions and size, the commonality of all these organizations is their work in preventing valuable resources from ending up in the waste stream.

Summary The Annual NYC Reuse Sector Conference is the first city-wide conference dedicated to materials exchange and reuse. The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity to discuss best practices, weigh in on sector strategies, and network with other organizations.
